BATILE ALAKE & HER WAKA GROUP - MADAM JARINATU ADEBIWALE / TOWO TOWO:
Rare mono original 45 from Nigeria. Both sides are nice but i prefer "Towo towo". Cool yoruba chanting over traditional african rhythms. Price is reduced due to the condition but playback is quite fine actually. Cover has small writing & small dirt stains.

EMMANUEL ARUYINGHO & HIS UVOES - ORITSHE MOBIE:
Rare independent release from this Nigerian artist. Probably pressed in the US for export to the Nigerian market. This one holds a killer jazzy afro funk/hi-life track in "Ariegbe tene" and some other good uptempo hi-life tunes. Disc looks almost unplayed and is a solid EX copy. Pressing is also really fat and loud. Cover is clean except for a name written on the front.

ESNARD BOISDUR - & SON GROUPE KATEL:
Solid, rootsy Gwo ka LP, a traditional straight forward afro style rhythm outta Guadeloupe. This type of stuff has been growing more and more popular on the tropical scene over the last years. Heavy, percussive afro jams all through, but check "Boulves" for a start.

HEDZOLEH SOUNDZ - HEDZOLEH:
Reissue of early 70s LP from Ghana that was the foundation for Hugh Masekela's "Introducing Hedzoleh Soundz" LP. Sparse, traditional sound that stands out from the funkier end of the afro spectrum. Listen to "Yei baa gbe wo" or "Rekpete".

JULIE MOURILLON - ROCK YOUR BONES:
Obscure carribean LP from Guadeloupe, produced by Gordon Henderson. Mainly reggae influenced tracks but has a fastpaced calypso/disco/percussion hybrid in "Rock your bones". Not for the disco purists, but could work well for the adventurous DJs. Currently a Sofrito spin. Clean copy, looks unplayed.

LIEVE HUGO - KING OF KASEKO:
Artist from Surinam but this album is dutch only as far as I know. Some swinging jazzy hi-life numbers on this one. Try "Kodokoe loekoe boeng" for example. Same title as the LP with "Mi bebe" but its NOT included on this LP.

OFEGE - TRY & LOVE:
Reissue of rare afro/funk/psych LP from Nigeria. "Lead me on" is a druggy affair with laidback vocals. "Ofege" and "Nobody fails" are also great. Has that hybrid sound of funk, afro, rock and psych that many bands from West Africa have. Reminds me of Blo, One World, Hykers etc.

ORIENTAL BROTHERS - THE BEST OF:
Old compilation from 1981 of earlier works in the highlife field. Pretty nice music throughout but maybe "Uwamesi special" was my favorite. Disc looks very clean for being a african record, but has two heat damage marks that doesn't affect play at all. A few soft hairlines too but overall a very nice copy. Cover has light wear and two stickers at front.

RAIL BAND DU MALI - MELODIAS:
French export issue. Deep Malian music from this poular group. Have a listen to "Maki" to get an insight to how this LP sounds like. As with a LOT of music from this part of the world the condition ain't the best. Some light noise through out but the music still shines through if you are not too fussy. Price is reduced due to the condition.

SOULJAZZ ORCHESTRA - FREEDOM NO GO DIE:
You already know the slamming "Mista president" (here in a full 6.30 version!), but don't miss the title track - baad afrobeat business. Nice LP as a whole, even a few highlife cuts.

12 Nigerian disco jams with enough funk and spacey keyboards to go around! Lovely compilation by Voodoo Funk man Frank Gossner and comes well recommended. Geraldo Pino "African hustle" or Doris Ebong "Boogie trip" are two of the very best for me.
